Thomas R. ‘Tom’ Richardson, age 82 of Cridersville, died at 6:03 a.m., Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Kindred Hospital, Lima. He was born December 26, 1934 in East Liberty, Ohio; the son of the late George M. and Doris H. Hatcher Richardson. On September 9, 1958 he married Marian F. Ritchie, who survives in Cridersville.
Tom was retired from Airstream after 26 years, he had worked at United Fire Apparatus, Superior Coach, and Bayliff & Son Funeral Home. He was an U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Veteran and a member of the Uniopolis United Methodist Church. Other memberships included Wally Byam Caravan Club International where he had been the past President of the Auglaize Valley Chapter three times, Buckeye Farm Antique Club, Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, a former member of the Uniopolis Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, a life member of the NRA, and the Vice President of the Indian Lake Historical Society where he was heavily involved with the Dream Bridge Restoration project. Tom enjoyed traveling, woodworking, leather craft, photography, volunteering at the Allen County Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center, telling stories and a good joke. One of his great pleasures was spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors also include his step mother Malonya Anna Marie Richardson of Russels Point, OH; 2 daughters – Paula (Richard) Theodore of Lima; Kristine (Jon) Wilges of Wapakoneta; 5 grandchildren – Randi (Tom) Braddock, Nikki (Craig) Wheeler, Jessica Nuss, Dylan Regula, and Jordyn Nuss; 4 great grandchildren – Landon and Leah Braddock and Ashton and Kendall Wheeler; a half brother – Larry (Julie) Richardson of Cincinnati; and a half sister – Cheryl (Elmer ‘Butch’) Griffiths of Bellefontaine, OH.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter – Kelli D. Nuss and a son-in-law – D. Scott Nuss.
A celebration of life will begin 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 19, 2017 with observation of the military rites by the V.F.W. followed by a time of sharing at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until time of military rites at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Uniopolis Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Indian Lake Historical Society, or to the charity of donors choice.
