Thomas S. ‘TC’ Cain, age 82 passed away at 2:01 a.m., August 9, 2016 at his home. Tom fought a long, hard battle with both cancer and COPD, yet in the end, the diseases won. Linda Balson, the love of his life, full time care taker and partner of more than 26 years was by his side through it all.
Tom was born June 9, 1934 in Lima to Irven O. Cain and Anna Mae (Thomas) Cain, who preceded him in death.
Tom graduated from South High School in 1954. He loved sports, especially football. He played varsity for South High School. His love for sports continued through out his life. He played softball for several different Lima teams, playing his last game with the Senior Citizens Organization at age 62. He was a life long fan of OSU, the Browns, and the Indians.
Tom retired from Westinghouse/Sundstrand. At one time he was co-owner of the Par 3 Lounge and owned the Bali Hai Lounge for many years. He was a member of the Sons of The American Legion Post 96.
Survivors include: his soul mate – Linda Balson; sons – Kendall V. Ward of Lima; Anthony ‘Tony’ Cain of Lumberton, NC; daughters – Anna (Binky) Lyon of Caledonia, OH; Angela Cain-Borgers of Bexley, Ohio; and Meranda Cain of Lima; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; step sons – Stephen (Jennifer) Dodds of Lima; Rick Dodds of Ft. Myers, FL; and Stacey (Teresa Dawn) Dodds of Columbus, OH; 8 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; brothers – Ronald (Patricia) Cain of Lima; Steven Cain of Orlando, FL; many nieces and nephews; two special people Tom loved and considered family – Larry and Marie Jewell of Alamogordo, NM.
He was preceded in death by siblings – William ‘Billy’ Cain; Robert ‘Bobby’ Cain, and Beverly Cain.
Per Tom’s wishes, there wil be no service. His remains will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita’s Hospice.
