83, died at 10:37 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 of natural causes at Blanchard Valley Regional Hospital in Findlay Ohio.

She was born February 14, 1927 in Logan County, Ohio to George and Flossie (Anderson) Artis. She married Alvin Woodyard on June 16, 1962 who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Woodyard was a long-time employee of Ex-Cell-O Corp. in Lima Ohio until her retirement in 1965. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother known for her cooking skills, giving advice and helping others. She was a country music fan, she enjoyed crosswords, soaps and her daily newspaper. Although, not a member of a church, she professed her belief in the Lord Jesus Christ and the Word of God.

Survivors include two brothers, Charles Artis of Oldsmar, FL and James Artis of Lecanto, FL; A sister Jean (Artis) Adams of Lexington, KY; three sons, Michael (Pam) Brown of Summerville, SC, William (Gloria) Brown of Furnace Creek, CA and Richard (Leah) Brown of Rawson, OH; Stepsons Steven Woodyard of South Point, OH and Robert (Kathy) Woodyard of Plymouth, MA; one stepdaughter, Marsha (Woodyard) Barry of Virginia; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Artis; three sisters, Georgia (Artis) Hitchner, Isabelle (Artis) Hughes and Nellie Jane Artis; and her former husband,
Vaugh Brown.

The family will conduct a private memorial service. Graveside services will be held at a later date in West Virginia at the site of her late husband’s burial.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Verla to Bayliff & Son in Cridersville.
