11:57 p.m., Sunday, September 2, 2018 at his residence. He was born September 4,
1927 in Gomer, Ohio to the late Emerson Waldo and Martha Ann Griffiths
Clevenger. On May 28, 1947 he married Julianne “Judy” Jones, who preceded him in
death on September 1, 1995.
Mr. Clevenger was owner and operator of The Radio Store in Delphos and a
member of the Delphos United Methodist Church. After he graduated from Gomer
High School, he joined the U. S. Army Air Corp and was stationed in occupied
Japan from 1946 – 1947. He was a ‘Jack of all trades’ and enjoyed tinkering
around on the farm. His hobbies included gardening and being on the computer,
which he played online golf with 3 others from around the country with a 10:00
p.m. tee time. His greatest love was his family and being able to spend time
with the grandchildren when they were younger.
Survivors include 2 sons – Keith Clevenger of Elida; Scott (Deanne) Clevenger
of Delphos; 2 daughters – Denise (Jeff) Norris of Delphos; Rene’ (Jim) Schrader
of Delphos; a daughter-in-law – Jane Clevenger of Delphos; 11 grandchildren; 16
great grandchildren; and a sister – Mary Huffer of Bluffton.
He was preceded in death by a son – Bruce Clevenger who died in 2014; a
brother – Don Clevenger; and 2 sisters – Jean Anderson and Betty
Warner.
A private burial at Pike Run Cemetery, near Gomer with military rites along
with a private celebration of life will be held.
Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Hospice.
