Virginia C. Altvater Miller, age 91, of Lima, died at 5:55 a.m., Monday, December 26, 2011 at Lima Convalescent Home of Lima. She was born February 11, 1920 in Forest, Ohio. She is the daughter of Martin W. and Mabel Drew Forney. Both parents are deceased. On August 16, 1939 she married Norman “Pete” Altvater who died in 1966; she then married Herman W. Miller on June 11, 1967, who died May 4, 1999.
Virginia was a housewife, loving mother and devoted grandmother; owner and operator of Silver Spur Restaurant in Upper Sandusky; and a dietician with the Elida School System. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lima. She sang with the choir and had belonged with the Charity Circle at the church. She was also a member of the Delphos Eastern Star.
Survivors include 2 daughters – Jeanette E. (Edward) Jamison of Lima; Jean A. (Dan) Brinkman of Lima; 1 son –Barry W. (Elizabeth) Miller of Pickerington, Ohio; 8 grandchildren – Frank (Judy) Jamison, Erick (Kimberly) Collar, Brett (Kelly) Miller, Kevin Miller, Brooke (Chad) Winters, Lisa (Mike) Ballard, Crystal (Nathan O’Neil) Brinkman, and Joseph (Stephanie) Brinkman; 11 great grandchildren – Taylor Winters, Allyson Collar, Ricky Collar, Mackenzie Winter, Amanda Rolsten, Kyler O’Neil, Jaxson Winters, Gabe Jamison; Owen Ballard, A.J. Miller, and Ryan Miller; 2 sisters – Ruth Ulrich of Lehigh Acres, FL; Jane Koehler of Forest, OH.
She was preceded in death by a son – Chris Miller; a brother – Wayne Forney; and a sister – Norma Miller.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Burial will follow in Schoenberger Cemetery in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.
The family will welcome friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
