Virginia L. Hedrick, age 92 of Cridersville, died at 7:41 a.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. She was born August 7, 1924 in Alliance, Ohio to the late John and Mabel Burgess Kemper. On September 30, 1944 she married Quincy L. Dray, Jr. who died November 25, 1986. On May 9, 1964 she married Charles O. Hedrick, who preceded her in death on January 10, 1995.
After graduating Roundhead High School in 1943 she went to work for over 20 years at Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Lima in the office service where stayed active with the Westinghouse/Sunstrand Club formerly know as the Westinghouse Golden Age, and a life member of the Employee Veterans Association. She was a member of the Cridersville United Methodist Church and its Rachel Circle. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 96, a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter #52, the Wapakoneta Eagle Auxillary Lodge Aerie #691, the Lima Elks Lodge #54 and the Elks 300 Club, a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1275 ladies auxilliary, and the Wapakoneta Senior Citizens. She was inducted into Wapakoneta Auxilliary #691 Hall of Fame on March 20, 2010 and won first place for her Red Hat Society attire at the 2006 Senior Expo.
She dearly loved her family, traveling, dancing, playing cards, needle work, and her Red Hat friends. She had wintered many years in Florida and was a member of the Southern Palms RV Resort Red Hat Society of Eustes, Florida.
She is survived by a daughter – Carol Ann Glasco of Spencerville; 2 sons – Kenneth Eugene (Karen) Dray of Pataskala; Dale ‘Dick’ (Jean) Dirkson of Kenton; a step son – Charles Buddy Hedrick; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 22 great great grandchildrn with 2 on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her close companion – Maynard ‘Bud’ Leist who died February 11, 2017; a grandson – Timothy Glasco, Sr. who died January 26, 2017; a son-in-law – Samuel Glasco; a brother – John Kemper, Jr.; a sister Mildred ‘Maxine’ Fox; and a nephew – Jerry Fox.
Funeral services will begin 5:00 p.m., Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Rev. Casey Irwin will officiate. Entombment will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
