Wade Hiram Smith, age 63, of Lima died 5:08 p.m., Tuesday, December 7 at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice. He was born Nov. 3, 1947 in Pikeville, KY to George and Kathryn Axe Smith. His father survives in Lima and his mother preceded him in death. He married Patricia J. Smith July 8, 1995 and she survives in Lima.
Additional survivors include 2 sons: George Smith of Delphos, Christopher Melching of Lima , 2 daughters: Melinda Sevier and Monica Smith both of Tenn, a step son: Timothy Toeppe of Lima and 2 stepdaughters: Heather (Todd) Vicary of Bowling Green and Tiffany Toeppe of Lima, a brother Donald (Carol) Smith of Lima, 5 sisters: Phyllis (Fred) Bosse of Ada, Christine (Jim) Lewis of Lima, Kathy Burden of Lima, Ada Toepfer of Delphos and Georganne (Paul) Saffle of Lima, 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson Damian and 2 brother-in-laws: Richard Burden andRobert Toepfer.
Mr. Smith had been a corrections officer for 32 years retiring from Oakwood. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m., Sunday Dec. 12 at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Inman officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to Van Wert Inpatient Hospice.
