Walter W. “Bill” Harshman, age 68, of Cridersville died 12:55 p.m., at Otterbein-Cridersville. He was born to the late Walter M. and Ilo Della Winget Harshman Feb. 24, 1946 in Lima, Ohio. He married Janet Marie Casto Oct. 5, 1969 and she preceded him in death Sept. 15, 2000.
Mr. Harshman had been a custodian with Shawnee Schools and was a member of Cridersville United Methodist Church and Eagles Lodge, Aerie 691, he was a former member of Northwest Ohio Amateur Radio Club.
Survivors include a son Steven Matthew (Melanie) Harshman of Canal Winchester, a daughter-in-law Debbie Harshman of Columbus, 2 grandchildren: Abigail and Maxwell Harshman, a sister: Judy (Donald) Hauenstein-Ferguson of Elida, 2 step sisters: Margie Steinman and Merry (Gary) Long both of Pandora.
He was preceded in death by a son Gregory Aaron Harshman and a mother-in-law Evalyn Casto Lyon.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 Monday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
The funeral will begin 10:30 a.m., Tuesday Nov. 11 at Cridersville United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Martindell officiating. Burial will follow at St. Matthew Cemetery near Cridersville. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Rita’s Oncology Department or to Cridersville United Methodist Church.
