William F. Selover age 84, of Wapakoneta died 5:20 a. m. Sunday, December 16, 2012 at Kindred Hospital. He was born Sept. 15, 1928 to Franklin and Clara Walter Selover. He married Vera Eunice O’Dell December 23, 1951 and she preceded him in death November 15, 1999.
Mr. Selover had worked at Sealts Wholesale Distributing servicing groceries in the Lima and Kenton. He painted homes, barns and churches. He had been a union leader president with Standard Oil/BP and had helped many families when they were on strike retiring in 1987. He was the Labor Day Parade grand marshal in 1989. He was a member of the V. F. W. having served in the U. S. Army as part of the signal corp. He enjoyed Wapak Basketball, Bowling, Baseball and Ohio State Football. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Wapakoneta.
Survivors include a son: Gregory William Selover of Wapak, 1 daughters: Karen Marie (Joseph) Wineinger of NC , 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and one on the way and a , sister Opal Mills of Cridersville.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Randie Diane Seipel in 2001, 4 brothers: Doyle ‘Dutch’ Selover, Richard Selover, Robert ‘Bob’ Selover and Jack Selover.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral service will begin 10:30 a.m. at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville with Rev. RJ Davis officiating and burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Kidney Foundation.
